Unfortunately, logistics prevented us from attending Old Settler's Day in Perkins this year. However, once again our sister ranch (Just Right Alpacas) came to the rescue and THEY were able to help us out by manning a booth in Perkins to help promote the alpaca industry. They reported Perkins had a wonderful parade and tremendous foot-traffic with great visibility and a band second to none! Although conflicting time slots prevented us from delivering animals for the public view, perhaps we can try it again next year.... reports back to us were very positive.

Land Run Alpacas

What a great time! Our sister ranch (Just Right Alpacas, JRA, of Jones, OK) joined with us here in Agra as we opened-up our place so visitors could 1) learn about the alpaca, 2) interact with the alpaca, 3) take selfies with the alpaca, 4) enjoy the comfortable fall afternoon outside, and 5) take a look and shop alpaca products and items.

We had folks from as far away as Ponca City, Moore and Tulsa Oklahoma! Youngsters to seniors, we hope all gained as much time and information they wanted with our animals. We estimated as many as 150 people came by this past weekend and each of them were a pleasure to meet.

We offer a BIG THANK YOU to Janice and John Robinson (owners of JRA) for all their help, advice and support ... without them the event would not have been a success.

Perhaps we can return  the favor to Just Right Alpacas next year????

Two in a row! Another nice day to be outdoors with great foot traffic and superb booth layouts and space. Vendors and hosts were a lot of fun. Conversations were very positive as were sales. Looking forward to next year!

Highlight of the trip was the tour of New Era Fiber Mill. Enjoyable trade show with fiber everywhere and numerous worthwhile speakers / seminars. A positive experience and well worth the drive from Agra.

Attendance was good. We had 20 people that got a chance to make their own fiber book and the potluck was all too good for words. Thank you Janice Robinson for the information and materials . . . the fiber information is critical for the industry's future success.

Projected weather forecast prompted our cancellation. We have enjoyed the comradery and mission of Wings over the years, and hope to make the Festival in 2019 if they will have us back.

2018 Events

Much to Land Run Alpacas' surprise, table center-pieces and handbag ornaments (provided by the Women in Agriculture Community) were adorned with handmade "alpaca decorations"! We were honored to have been highlighted in that way among so many other significant  agricultural businesses. We taught a landscape needle-felting class for a group of interested women . . . they did a great job! Attendance at next years conference is highly recommended as they do a wonderful job for vendors, speakers, instructors and participants.

BEAUTIFUL complex with warm and attentive people. Weather - - - unbelieveably nice. Foot-traffic was continuous with all ages.

Petting alpacas was a hit and we would repeat at a moments notice if invited again.

Classy venue and perhaps a bit of a secret to those in the Stillwater area ... but undoubtedly not for much longer!

Updated October 2018

WOW! What a day ... tons of people and the weather really cooperated for this one. The streets of downdown Jenks were flooded by young and old alike. Many serious gardeners and some folks seemed to just be happy to be out in the warm climes for a change.  The venue could not have been any better for us as access was superb for our booth - we had no issues whatsoever and hope to return next year. This festival is one not to be missed.

Numerous vendors promoting all the fiber-bearing animals. Fabulous shopping with gorgeous alpaca yarns.  Fiber art classes will be offered next year!

Numerous vendors promoting all many crafts and goods just in time for the Christmas Holidays. Heavy rains made move-in a bit challenging but ... accomodations and folks were very good. Good foot traffic throughout the day. Very successful outing,

The grounds were soggy/wet throughout the day but ... we persevered. Lots of people interested in the animals and the two boys I took were very well behaved for their first trip off the ranch. Llama, miniature ponies, geese, pigs, cows and goats were our neighbors at this "information sharing" event. Easy access to our display area made for a nice event with lots of volunteers to make our efforts a breeze.

Went well! Unfortunately, the afternoon was cut short due to wet grounds, gusty winds and lower than hoped for temperatures; however, the venue was really nice and well run by wonderful people. Our sister ranch (Just Right Alpacas) was kind enough to join us as we talked "alpaca" with many folks. We hope to be able to join-in on the second annual event next year.
